Biography Rt Hon Elliot Morley MP MP for Scunthorpe
Born Liverpool 1952.
Married with two children
Educated St Margaret's High School, Hull College of Education (B.Ed).
Taught in Hull 1975-87 becoming head of special needs in an inner-city comp. Elected President of Hull NUT.
Elected to Hull City Council 1979-86. Served as chair of the City transport Committee.
Candidate in Beverly & Holderness 1983.
Elected to Glanford and Scunthorpe 1987,
Member of the Agriculture Select Committee,
served as opposition front bench spokesperson on Fisheries and Rural Affairs 1989-1987.
Promoted to government 1997 to MAFF serving as Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Water and the Countryside.
Appointed 2001 to the new Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs as Minister for Fisheries, Water and Nature Conservation.
Served 2003-6 as Minister of State for the Environment and Climate Change.
President of Globe International (Global Legislators for a Balanced Environmnet) 2006,
Prime Minister's Special representative to the Gleneagles Dialogue on Climate Change and Sustainable development
